Journalist/Translator

In order to boost his engagements a journalist requested a single web page where he could advertise his services.

I created an easy-to-scan page with clearly separated sections for his details, CV, work samples and references.

This site is now advertised in local newspapers and allows clients to verify his competence.

  • Perform OCR for supplied document scans
  • Do all the administrative work (upload, maintenance) for the client
  • Ensure web site complied with web standards

Photographer

This photographer requested a simple site which focused on images.

I created a site which uses a single page per gallery, offering most of the screen space to the images.

The site uses JavaScript to enable the user to view a slideshow of all images in a gallery.

  • Rework supplied images to fit site
  • Source and develop the code to display the images in a slide show
  • Teach client how to update the site himself

Advertising company

An advertising company requested an application to record and track all sales to customers.

I developed a solution which consists of a sales and budget module, an administration area and a report generator.

Now management can monitor sales targets, view monthly sales reports and for the first time determine and foster their top clients. The application reduced the amount of paperwork and streamlined work flow in production.

University of Sydney

Graphical Reasoning in Educational Visualisation (GREV)

I developed this site using the Joomla content management system.

I created a template that is easy to understand and maintainable, set up the basic menu structure and created the image header.

Work included:

  • Install and configure Joomla CMS
  • Find and install necessary plug-ins
  • Develop template for site look-and-feel
  • Help users to add new content in CMS

Archaeological Computing Laboratory (ACL)

The Archaeological Computing Laboratory of the university required a static website to be migrated into the Mambo content management system.

I created a template for the new site and subsequently transfered the existing content. I performed a link check and documented how to use the new content management system.

Many people can update the website's content now without having to know anything about web programming. Users can be given access roles, and the template ensures a consistent look of the entire site.

Work included:

  • Develop web site template for CMS
  • Migrate relevant pages and check all links
  • Create menu structure
  • Document project

Amateur photographer

An ambitious photographer needed a small website to display her work.

I created a clean, easy-to-navigate site which focuses on the images.

Now the photographer points to her website on business cards and adds new photos as her portfolio extends.

A sample image of the website www.Kati-Hey.de which was developed and programmed by me.

Work included:

  • Design and develop new website
  • Prepare images for presentation
  • Perform all administrative work for client

Singer talent

A talented singer had an existing site which was poorly prepared for maintenance and hardly found by search engines.

While carefully maintaining the existing design which the client liked I recreated and improved the website using modern techniques. I added data for search engines which was created together with the client.

The site now ranks well in commonly used search engines. Creative Spirits still maintains the site and does all updates.

A sample image of the website www.MonikaCyrani.de which I converted into a better structure.

Work included:

  • Remove table-based layout and develop CSS-based web site
  • Optimise site for search engines
  • Add new features (mp3 snippets, song lyrics, etc.)

Test time reservation application

A large memory company needed a cross-platform system to allow engineers do bookings for memory testers.

I developed an application which allows to create time contingents which are then allocated to user groups. Several rules were implemented into the system. An separate module allows intuitive administration of all data.

The application helped the company to manage their tester time more efficiently. The system can easily handle a growing number of users and is in use since many years.

Work included:

  • Research most feasible implementation solution
  • Design database structure
  • Implement application in dynamic code
  • Write cross-platform database code
  • Ensure old data is archived to keep database lean

Fund-raising organisation

An organisation which funded the construction of a church needed a redesign of their existing, one-page website.

I created a simple website which featured the organisation's mission, photographs of their activities and a current programme.

The site helped to find new supporters of the organisation resulting in increased funding. The programme page was visited frequently and attracted more visitors to the organisation's events.

The website www.Kibau-Foerderverein.de represents an organisation which supported the erection of a church.

Work included:

  • Design and develop web site
  • Prepare images for web display
  • Update programme regularly
